four awesome assemblies for your elementary school students
these assembly programs will captivate and hold
student attention -- or your school doesn't pay!

BUT DO THEY REALLY GET THE MESSAGE?
Let the children speak for themselves --
After an anti-smoking assembly program at Newmark Elementary School in San Bernardino, California,
a newspaper reporter interviewed several children. Here's a portion of the reporter's article:
"There aren't going to be a lot of kids smoking now."
                                                        Rico Ferrell, 9

"I like the way the cigarettes kept coming out of his hand. I'm not going to smoke because it makes your heart disgusting and sick."
                                                         Stephanie Letteer, 8

"I think the show will make less kids smoke"
                                                          Keenan Letteer, 10

"I think it was great because he told us the truth about smoking."
                                                         Nicolas Lemke, 10

          your school doesn't pay!
Thank you so much for your program today!  The students really enjoyed themselves. And more importantly, they heard an important message that we tell them all the time, now reinforced through your show!

Heather Stewart, School Counselor
                               Tinicum Elementary, Essington, PA

I've been booking assemblies for our schools for 13 years, and your show was great. I invited some parents to the assembly since the PTO paid for this, and they loved the show too. Teachers and students were coming up to me after you left telling me how fabulous the assembly was. Thanks!

                            Marc Galloway, Social Worker
                                 Locust Valley Central School District
                                 Locust Valley, NY

Lots of great comments on the show. You told them exactly what we wanted to communicate about character education.

                                 South Davis Elementary School
                                 Orchard Park, NY

We have had several bullying assemblies over the years, but yours was the BEST anti-bullying assembly we've ever had. And your programs were perfectly tailored to the different age groups. We'll spread the news to the other schools in our parish.

                                St. Ambrose School

I would like to thank you again for coming to our school and performing amazing magical messages.  The teachers and children are still talking about it.  I will be sending you a CD with some pictures from your performance. This is truly a blessing. Thank  you again.

                                 HR Jones Elementary
                                 Utica, NY

In planning this program, I was afraid the magic wouldn't match with the anti-bullying message we're trying to communicate to our students – but you covered everything we wanted to say, and did it in a way the students loved!

Kathy Smith, Teacher
                                Hickory Grove Elementary
                                Brookville, PA

Thank you for the wonderfully entertaining and highly educational assemblies that you presented at our school last week. Our staff felt that you struck the perfect balance between content and entertainment. Your messages on the types of bullying, physical and verbal, and strategies that students should use when being bullied or witnessing bulling were clear and thorough without being overly complicated. The repetition of the messages and strategies effectively reinforced learning of these important social skills for our k-5 students. I highly recommend you to any elementary school that is looking to bolster their anti-bullying program.

Paul Mahoney, Principal
                              Pearl S. Buck Elementary
                              Levittown, PA

Thank you for the wonderful assemblies you gave to our school. All of the evaluations from the teachers and students were good/excellent. Even my 5th grade son really enjoyed the show and he can sometimes be a tough audience! Thanks again for a great message for our kids.

Great assembly! The real magic of that show was that the two students you picked to help you on stage were the two most bullied students at our school. I was on the phone with both their parents just the other day! I'm sure they benefitted greatly from your bullying assembly, as did all the other kids. Thanks.

The students were spellbound as you masterfully wove illusions with an important lesson on self esteem and saying "No" to drugs. We are appreciative of your work in making the future successful for young boys and girls!

                             Claudia Clemens, Principal
                             Locust Grove Elementary

Our students were enthralled with you from the moment you began. Your comments were very age appropriate and changed thoughtfully as the age of the groups changed. The feedback I received from the parents, students and staff were tremendous. The most enjoyable program of the year. Please feel free to have others call me should you need any references.

I had the privilege of viewing your show at Shade Gap Elementary and was certainly impressed with the way you related to the students. In fact, you had the riveted attention of each student . . . I appreciated the way you involved the students. Based upon the performance I saw, I would be happy to recommend you to any of the schools in our area.

Great assembly, James, and the program content was excellent. The messages you gave them about bullying were exactly what we try to tell them at school. Well done!

                              Jennifer Moffat, Principal
                              Ridgeview Elementary School
                              Yucaipa, California
After watching one of James Warren's anti-drug assembly programs, a student at Hayshire Elementary School in York, Pennsylvania, talked to a newspaper reporter, who wrote:
Five year old Chelsea Trabert wasn't real clear on what drugs were, but she new not to use them. "You shouldn't drink drugs," she said. "They're bad for you."
For older children it gets a bit more sophisticated,. Here are the words of a sixth grader named Niki, commenting on James' anti-smoking assembly for 5th graders and up, as reported by the San Bernardino County Sun:
"It was interesting the way he made a connection between magic and advertising," Niki said. "The way they (advertisers) trick people. They talk you into believing stuff by making other people look . . .
For a five year old, this is exactly the message we need to get across, simple as it sounds:
More Proof . . . .
TAKE A LOOK AT THIS DRAWING!
This was drawn by a student at Carter Elementary School in Palm Desert, California. Even though the assembly was in the morning and this Cassandra drew this picture later in the day, she remembered almost my entire act! Notice the linking rings dangling from my hand, the drawing board on the easel (which came to life during the show), the flowers in the vase (the blooms appeared magically on the stems), the lunch bag with the coke bottle next to it (the bottle disappeared inside the bag). Yes, children do pay attention to magic!
Our students are still talking about the wonderful magic they saw during your performances. They loved it! The teachers were pleased with the positive messages while being entertained. Keep up the great job you do in motivating students. We need more people like you!

                                                                                                                         Tamara Kimball, Resource Teacher
                                                                                                                         Elwin Elementary School
                                                                                                                         Baldwin Park, California
REPEAT the warnings about cigarettes, drugs, and bullying many times.
Say it in many different ways.
Say it entertainingly!
Children today bore easily and have extremely short attention spans.

BEST OF ALL, TRY THIS SUPER POWERFUL WAY TO DELIVER THE MESSAGE . . . .
Primary school is the best time to educate children about smoking, drugs and bullying!
James Warren's
If you've ever seen a group of children watching a magic show, you know one thing: CHILDREN LOVE MAGIC! They pay rapt attention to the amazing tricks. They laugh. They raise their hands to participate, and become totally involved -- a teacher's dream! Magic is a wonderful teaching modality to communicate important messages in a way children
will listen to and understand.
Anti-Bullying Assembly
Anti-Smoking Assembly
Smoking is BAD for you! That is the basic message of this school assembly program.  But wait . . . there's more!  Smoking destroys your health, smoking consumes your money, gives you bad breath, yellow teeth, stinky clothing, and smoking is definitely NOT COOL!  Smoking is an ADDICTION, and James has several fun and unique ways to explain the meaning of addiction to children.

All these anti-smoking messages are communicated using audience participation (for which there is never any lack of volunteers!), and exciting, fun, and amazing MAGIC!

5th and 6th  graders, if addressed separately, can
also benefit from a version of James'
middle school anti-smoking assembly, in which James exposes the tricks of tobacco advertisers who attempt to manipulate their fears and desires.
A student's head suddenly swells up to 10 times its normal size, and the audience gasps! This stunning illusion leads the way to an understanding of bullying as an imbalance of power. Bullies have swollen heads -- they hide their own fear and shame behind a mask of pride and arrogance.

In this anti-bullying assembly program, James stresses the difference between direct bullying (such as threatening or hitting), and indirect bullying (such as spreading rumors), and lets students know that indirect bullying is just as serious.

Students are also taught that "telling" an adult about a bullying situation is not the same as "tattling" to get someone into trouble.
Rewards/Just for Fun!
Want to reward your students for their fundraising efforts, or their good grades or attendance? James' fun magic show is a great way. No message, just lots of audience participation and fun!
Anti-Drug Assembly
This fun and exciting, magical assembly program communicates powerful and simple messages about drugs that children can understand: drugs are BAD for you, drugs destroy your body and your mind, drugs can land you in jail, drugs drain your money, and drugs cause ADDICTION.  As in the anti-smoking assembly program, James explains the nature of addiction using a student volunteer and a hilarious metaphor, so that even children can understand the dangers of addiction.
Character Education
A fun and educational assembly that teaches children the values of Honesty, Responsibility, and Respect for self and others.

James' clear thinking, his ability to relate himself to students and their needs, and his powerful performance skills, combine to make Magic With A Message a winner for hundreds of schools.
James Warren has been a yearly performer at the famous Magic
Castle in Hollywood, California, for over a decade. He has
entertained celebrities such as Michelle Pfeiffer, Warren Beatty,
Goldie Hawn, Steve Allen, Smokey Robinson, and many others.
James has presented his Magic With A Message assembly programs during the last ten years for more than a quarter of a million students, delivering powerful messages that students remember, mixed with lots of attention-grabbing fun.
James realizes the importance of healthy self-esteem, and solid academics. He has a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master of divinity degree in theology. He is a member of the National Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, and at one time taught freshman composition at Cal State Northridge.
